Don,

I have used several, lately one from Best Buy, under their Dynex store brand has been working well. It has an Agere chipset. You might stay away from the NEC chipsets, seem to be have some issues as of late.

I have had no problems using a PCI-to-1394 adapter card in several PC's when using both a 3K and 5K but I just bought another computer that uses PCI Express cards. Has anyone been successful with this approach? Any recommendations for compatible boards/chipsets or those to avoid? Thanks,
