I heard some hams the other night talking about UPS contracting with the postal service to deliver some packages. It seems to be true because I've asked others and they too knew of it. Personally, I don't care for the idea. It's not that I have problems with the postal service (I use them for lots of packages to my clients) but I resent the idea that they would pass along my package to a third party to complete the delivery without my permission. I like Fed Ex ground. It's very fast compared to UPS and is far less in cost. As we get closer to Christmas, the post office often can't meet its guarantee for Express Mail. Knowing this can mean free shipping if you're willing to call them on it. It's happened to me many times. Always buy some insurance. They seem to take more care with a package that is insured. I believe most carriers are self insured. Post office insurance is the worst and most expensive.
