I am currently running an "i-box" in line which is the isolatioin
transformer etc..
Ok I might give the rear flex port a go so I can upgrade the cabling to
something more substancial than Cat5 network cable!

Also make sure you have the correct impedance matching between the rack
equipment and the Flex.
An I-Box or similar device will help ensure correct matching.
