Ok, Neal, here is my configuration...please keep in mind that I am a new user of HRD +DM780 and thus may not be that familiar with all of its features and its setup.
I use the N8VB VComConfigurator to create virtual Com ports 6 and 16. PowerSDR has CAT Enabled and utilizes Com 6. HRD is configured to connect via Com port 16. DM780 uses HRD for PTT switching. (I did not select PTT switching via Com port because it requires a dedicated Com port and as I mentioned before, HRD utilizes Com 16.) I realize that the IC-7700 uses a hardware Com port (Com 1) to connect to HRD + DM-780 and the Flex-3000 uses a virtual Com port pair (via HRD in my case) to accomplish the connection, but I would expect quicker response from the Flex unless my setup is not optimum.
