I have to look and see if I have VAC 4.10 or 4.09 as you suggested.
I may have to downgrade if I don't make any contacts today!
Saturday afternoon I had a chance to experiment with my Flex 1500 and
digital modes. I was using FLDIGI and PowerSDR 2.0.5 with my dual-core
laptop.
With my registered VAC 4.10 I got nice looking traces on the waterfall
display in FLDIGI but it was very poor at decoding even clear, strong
signals. I downgraded to VAC 4.09 as suggested here and could decode
signals that I could barely see.
One thing I noticed that is probably something to do with the CAT
control settings was there is a 1 to 1.5 second lag (estimated) between
clicking on the FLDIGI transmit button and the Flex 1500 actually going
into transmit mode. This occurs with either normal transmit or the
"tune" button.
I setup PowerSDR, VAC, VSP, and FLDIGI per the instructions on the
FLDIGI wiki...

I am very pleased with digital mode operation using the FLDIGI/PowerSDR
combination.
