What a great help Geep Howell WA4RTS has given me for the past two days! He
lives in Lynchburg, about an hour and a half away from us here in
Blacksburg, VA, and we have had two "monster-long" telephone calls. He
stayed in there and kept making helpful suggestions until, together, we
discovered that my problem was NOT with the FLEX-1500, but with a West
Mountain Radio RIGblaster I had connected via USB to my desk computer. Once
I disconnected the RIGblaster almost all of my CW problems went away. He has
helped me more with getting the audio going to the ASIO4ALL, and now I can
see and hear and operate using the same Phones jack. Joy!

Geep has "held my hand" with websites and settings he uses with his FLEX
radios. I thank him as a SUPER FLEXER.

But, poor guy, I am sure I will be going back to him for more help as time
goes by. I think we both will be happy when the CW beginning characters get
recognized and sent properly. I think Gerald Youngblood will let us know
when the fix is made. I am a CW QRP enthusiast, so sending good CW is
important to me.

I still have a long way to go in implementing all the things I want to do
with my FLEX-1500, but now I am off to a great start! I have made QSOs on
several bands, using both SSB and CW: Washington state, St. Croix, and
Louisiana, as well as on the Rooster Net on 3990 this morning--all up and
down the east coast. Boy, I great GREAT RST reports--from everybody! This is
a great radio!

Thanks, Geep!

Carter N3AO and Kay N3KN
Blacksburg, VA
