Before I answer that, just to be sure you understand- this failure occurs before starting up PowerSDR: the driver is not even loaded in Windows' device manager when this problem is happening.

When things work properly, which is most of the time thankfully, Windows only loads the driver once the cable lights up after the F3K is powered up. Conversely, in those times when the cable light fails, no driver loads at all. This is why I am inclined to think that it is happening at a hardware level rather than software.

But to properly answer your question, I have observed this failure while the computer had installed most of the 1.x and in recent months, 2.x versions of PowerSDR installed. My habit is to install the newest ones as they come along.

OK. Good.

One more question...

What version of PowerSDR are you using?

Thanks for the quick reply Tim.

The failure occurs when powering up. Never does it fail once operational.

A very short ground wire goes from PC to Flex.

The two PCs use the same chipset, a Texas Instruments TSB43AB22/A

A few questions.

When does the failure occur? When powering up the FLEX-3000 or does it fail
after the FLEX-3000 is operational?

Is the PC "RF grounded" to the FLEX-3000?

Is it the same Firewire card in both PCs?
