Sounds easy enough, thanks!

Subject: RE: [Flexradio] How to substitute and clone

Clyde,

Each radio has settings that are radio-specific, & PowerSDR creates a separate
database for each radio it sees. Therefore, the
answer to your question is no, your FLEX-3000 settings will NOT be
automatically transferred to your FLEX-5000. Your FLEX-5000 will
start with the factory default settings. Also, you cannot use the database
import/export facility in PowerSDR to transfer settings
from one radio to another because of the different radio-specific settings.

I have written a free utility (free except for the rather blatant, on-time only
plea for a donation) that will allow you to safely
transfer all of your custom settings from one PowerSDR database to another.
The utility is called SDRDataTransfer and is available
from my website. Go to http://k9dur.info and click on "Downloads".

Your procedure will be:

1. While your FLEX-3000 is still hooked up, start PowerSDR & open the Setup
form. Click on "Export Database". This will place a
copy of your FLEX-3000 database on your desktop. Save it to CD or flash drive
for use at the summer home.

2. Hookup up your new FLEX-5000VU & start PowerSDR. This will create a new
database with the default settings.

3. Use SDRDataTransfer to transfer all of your custom settings from your
FLEX-3000 database to the new FLEX-5000 database.

4. At the summer home, install PowerSDR & hook up the FLEX-3000. When you
start PowerSDR, it will create a new database. Then use
SDRDataTransfer to transfer your settings from the old FLEX-3000 database you
saved previously to the new one.

Good luck. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
