If you have too hot a mic make sure you don't have MIC BOOST selected (Setup/Audio). Also make sure the mic gain on the Mixer window isn't pushed up to high. If you use the Transmit EQ, make sure the left-side slider is not pushed all the way up (in fact you can use the EQ slider as a mic attenuator). The the Flex WIKI article for further audio adjustments.

With all these adjustments, it's a good idea to start them all at 30-50%, the make adjustments from the start of the audio chain working further down the chain. None of the sliders should be max'd or min'd. Once you have it all set, go back and run thru the setup again making fine adjustments. When done be sure to SAVE your transmit profiles, also make/save multiple copies of your database.

It's also a good idea to print screenshots of each of your menu pages, so if you have to do this all again a year from now, you have some record of what you set up.

Good luck.

Subject: [Flexradio] Flex 1500 Question

I would like to know which microphones sound good with the Flex 1500. I am
trying out a Heil Pro-Micro which seems to work fine though notice it has a
lot of gain as I have to keep the microphone gain near 2 or I exceed the
suggested ALC zone. The amount of gain from the mic also makes it difficult
to use the processing (DX , Compander) . The microphone need not be a boom
set but wonder if other Heil headsets are a better bet. Need not be Heil .
Any advice would be appreciated . I am after a full bodied audio as opposed
to a restricted DX audio. Thanks. Mike.
