The beauty of SDR is that we can investigate problems by use of recorded data.
Algorithms for detecting AM are non-linear in nature. We need AGC and in some cases we want to use synchronous detection. Sometimes there are bugs in the code, sometimes the algorithms are not quite well suited to the task. I think it would be extremely valuable if some of you who have made postings in this thread would make wideband recordings available for AM signals that do not detect well with your current software. Those wideband recordings could be played in different versions of PSDR and also in various versions of other SDR softwares. It will be possible to evaluate what works best in each case. > I tried all the agc settings, no improvement. > I do not know if any here used an sdr-iq from rf space, but the ability to > select one sideband, or the other, or both in sync AM was very nice indeed! > You can do it in psdr manually, but having a button was nice, and I don't > think it had that whoop as it locked up like psdr has. I am the author of Linrad in which you can do almost anything, but manually. Not very user friendly, but a pointer to what will be possible for others with greater resources to implement in a user friendly way. I have a great interest in wideband recordings that point to problems of any kind in existing softwares. Many problems can be solved fairly easily as soon as an understanding of the nature of the problem is established. 73 Leif / SM5BSZ _______________________________________________ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/
