Problem solved. Yamaha Mic out has stereo plug, AD-1-YM microphone plug is
designed for mono in. So I used a stereo to mono adapter between the CM-500
headset male plug and the AD-1-YM audio female plug

Subject: AD-1-YM connector to Flex 3000, why does it not work?

Trying to get it to work with my Yamaha CM-500 headset. The Heil PTT switch
works fine in the other half of the AD-1-YM to trigger the transmit, but no
sign of audio output from the CM-500 going into the AD-1-YM..the MIC level
remains at -30 dBM with no sign of movement.

So I try the Yaesu FT817 hand microphone with its own connector to Flex
3000, works perfectly. I see MIC levels peaking around -2 dBM. So it's not
the Flex radio or the SDR settings.

I now try a Plantronics headset with the AD-1-YM connector. Again, no sign
of audio output.

When I tried the AD-1-YM and the Yamaha CM-500 hooked to my FT817ND QRP
radio, no audio out. It would not trigger the VOX on the FT817ND. As soon
as I hooked up my FT817ND hand microphone to the FT817ND rig, it triggered
the VOX on the FT817ND rig just fine.

It seems unusual that the AD-1-YM plug would be bad. And I find it unlikely
that the wiring would be incorrect. But these are the only two options:

(1) A bad connector
(2) Incorrect wiring configuration

Is anyone else using the AD-1-YM connector with a Flex 3000? This would
help to eliminate Door #2.
