Whether the information comes through a reflector, a forum, a Yahoo! group, snail mail, or Facebook page, it appears that Flex is doing what it can to get that information out in a timely manner. Another point to consider is that maybe it really does not matter which of those web sites gets it out first ("scooping the story", as it were), but rather to consider that it is placed out here. A lot of companies are very tight-lipped about new products and releases, but Flex seems to be less so (within the bounds of legal and corporate prudence). Try to get advance information from the other radio companies - better yet try to get it from Apple - and see how far that goes. Heck, I prefer they get it right the first time it is released (as they have) rather than releasing info and/or a product too soon, only to fix it a day or so later because of a problem caused by moving too quickly in the first place. Now I have to get a Facebook page so I can read all the latest stuff. ;) Of course, I will not post my face on Facebook, lest they shut the site down. :)

Some of us get them from browsing the archives on the web. Also, some of us like to have different methods of information gathering at our disposal. As for data-mining - you have control over your privacy on Facebook, Google and other social networks. It's a case of editing those Privacy preferences to restrict the amount of information you want to give away. Facebook and Google and the like give you free access to their services - it's down to you as a user of the internet to decide what you give them in return. We live in a world of Social information - Businesses and Brands are built on this technology and you are not going to cater for everyone's tastes, opinions and shortcomings. Flex is doing the right thing by exposing their company through many avenues - I personally like the fact that Facebook is one of their options, its integrated into my phone which means I get the information they post instantly. I subscribe to Yahoo Groups, Facebook and the Reflector and I get all the information I need when I want and need it. My choice - and my privacy is secure. This whole thread seems to have blown out of proportion on the basis of someone throwing their dummy out of the pram because they did not get some information in a timely fashion. We live in an information world - go with the flow. Edit your privacy settings, use a secure and non-generic password and enjoy the ride. -- Richard A Clafton | the brITish guy | W5\G7EIX RIROC - Hosting - Development - Technology http://www.riroc.com | rclaf...@riroc.com "Jack of all trades, master of none, though often better than the master of one." -----Original Message----- From: flexradio-boun...@flex-radio.biz [mailto:flexradio-boun...@flex-radio.biz] On Behalf Of Jim Jannuzzo Sent: Saturday, February 25, 2012 5:39 PM To: t...@flexradio.com; flexradio@flex-radio.biz Subject: Re: [Flexradio] New Release Tim,Yes, that clears it up alrighty. Instead of monitoring two reflectors, we will now have to monitor three (with the latitude of calling Facebook a reflector). When I read that important news was released to Facebook and not the mailing list in the guise of reaching a new target demo, I'm really wondering where the Flex loyalty to existing customers went. Remember that the mailing lists are delivered to our email accounts. Opening a Facebook account exposes us to social data mining far beyond our email accounts' exposure. I request that in the future Flex does not release important support information to any one of the avenues of communication without releasing it to all. > Date: Sat, 25 Feb 2012 18:11:14 -0500 > From: t...@flex-radio.com > To: flexradio@flex-radio.biz > Subject: Re: [Flexradio] New Release > > We have no plans for abandoning the reflectors.
