When your radio goes into "convulsions" as you say, what is happening is that you have too many windows applications running in the background competing with PowerSDR. Go to control panel - device manager - adapters, and right click on each adapter and DONT DELETE THEM, but disable them. Usually bluetooth or wireless adapters cause the problems. You can also turn off auto updates and virus programs (after all it wont be connected to the internet after you disable those adapters)

With no antenna connected it shows a -73 dbm on the S meter. What might explain that?? Also often, but not always when I power up PSDR and turn the start button on I get no audio for a few seconds then it goes into convulsions. Turn the start button off then on again and it works fine. Finally the Flex knob works great but when you spin the knob it makes a noise or maybe it is latency. Perhaps there are some PSDR and/or firewire parameters that need attention.
