I have mixed reviews. My 3000 worked well at home... but after two
dxpeditions with it in the field over the past 3 months... It's very
sensitive to obtaining a good RF ground, which I never could achieve (or at
least didn't care to haul all the necessary stuff to do it along on the
trip). Curiously other radios like its predecessor (Icom 756 Pro II) and
now successor (latest K3) never experienced. I'll keep my 5000 for home
base use... but sadly my 3000 is up for sale and not my preferred radio for
portable use.

Subject: [Flexradio] Mobile operation of FLEX 3000

I'm interested in hearing from FLEX3000 owners who use their rigs mobile. I
use mine with a desktop and love it, but am travelling south now for the
winters. I'm considering using either the FLEX 3000 mobile with a Lenovo
ThinkPad T520 423946U or buying a used Icom I706MKIIG and a LDG AT-200PROII
ant tuner. What are your expiences running the flex mobile with a laptop?
Best, Konrad W1KON
