Just bear in mind that without that added preamp you probably won't have
enough input to trip the VOX without shouting, unless you use outboard kit.

I use a separate preamp for my dynamic mike on the balanced rear input.
This preamp boosts up the signal to approx. -10 dBm.
I don't use the boost in the software in that case.
