Be sure bios is set up correctly. Mine was not for the hard drive and that
solved my dpc issues.

This is likely a DPC issue (you can search this list or Google) on how to look
for it.
Usually its bad drivers (out of date drivers).
What chipset is in the Abocom firewire card? When you go to the device manager,
look under 1394 devices and what does it say is present?
