FWIW (probably not much): I think you need the Mesa or OpenGL and glut *developer* package (is that the word?). In the packet manager or somewhere there is a huge list of things you can check and you should probably tell the SuSE packet manager to install it for you. I do not think it is a path problem, although this does happen (but IIRC in other distros).
