Well, metakit is *supposed* to be platform/endian independant which is
why we chose it in the first place.  Perhaps we are seeing some side
effect or memory leak in how it impliments this functionality.  Or
perhaps we see problems if the databse is created in one version and
read in another version?  I've not heard of any problems like these
though before so I'd be surprised that they would crop up now.

I should point out that with the version of runways.mk4 that David
generated and your source code changes, flightgear would *crash*
trying to access the database.
