Heh, actually...  YASim is +z up too.

For the record, the YASim internal aircraft coordinate frame:

+ Take your right hand.
+ Point your index finger away from you.
+ You thumb goes up in the air, like you're about to shoot an imaginary gun.
+ You middle finger now points of to your left at right angles.

You are the pilot.  Your index finger, thumb, and middle finger point
along the X (forward), Y (left), and Z (up) axis respectively.

Since one's right hand is typically the tool used to figure out axis
conventions, and since this is the simples way to hold it, it seemed
like the natural choice.  To boot, I'm a lefty, so I can do this while
holding a pen. :)
