Jim,
Maybe so, but the Boeing test pilots I worked with were OK with it.  They realize that they are uncalibrated and adaptive (with few notable exceptions).

He he...an airliner pilot that designs flight dynamics models in his spare
time may not totally agree with that statement ;-)
