Well, I think you need both things...you need a high level format that 
is powerful enough to generate what you want and _if_ you don't do 100% 
of the compilation in the sim, you need a container format for the 
results that is adequately expressive and efficient.  I am proposing the 
second but not the first, and if you do not need such a container 
format, well, it's nto very useful. :-)

Given how little runways have changed in the spec 'the point you pick 
now' is probably still fine.  I don't think that we've removed any of 
the existing high level info from 850 that would have been useful, we 
just haven't brought the level up.  (If we have dropped stuff you need, 
please shout at me!!)

This appears to be a zero-meters-long runway. :-)  I think this is 
simply a bad example in Robin's spec.  The lat/lon pairs for the runway 
ends really should (must?) be different.  Those two points should be the 
intersection of the extended runway centerline with the threshhold (not 
displaced threshhold) of the runway.

It's a good question - I'll try to answer any q's I can.  The docs are 
still in a pretty raw state - Robin only did the first spec on Friday!
