2007 is behind us, with the FlightGear project proudly being displayed on the International Flight Simulator Weekend in Lelystad, and a lot of comments from (sometimes not-knowing) simulator enthousiasts that we are well underway of providing people with a viable alternative to Microsoft.
2008 will obviously also hold several events. Here's a quick overview on the events in Europe (YMMV): * FOSDEM 2008 (February 23-24 2008, Brussels, Belgium): One of the biggest open-source events in Europe, alongside LinuxTag. IIRC, FlightGear had a presence at FOSDEM last year, and I'm hoping that there may be people who are willing to travel to FOSDEM this year as well. * LinuxTag 2008 (May 28-31, Berlin, Germany). Most of you will probably know this event already :) * Mondial de la Simulation (Sept. 25-28, Le Bourget, Paris, France). Not familiar with this event yet. Any reports? * T-DOSE 2008 (Technical Dutch Open Source Event, Oct. 13-14 2007, Eindhoven, Netherlands). Date for T-DOSE 2008 hasn't been confirmed yet, but the same weekend is planned. T-DOSE is a more small-scale event targeted at community projects. http://www.t-dose.org/ * International Flight Simulator Weekend (November 1-2, Lelystad Airport, Netherlands). Again, a familiar place for FlightGear people. Durk, Martin and me should know :) The date for the International Flight Sim Convention Europe hasn't been set yet. There may be a few other upcoming open-source events in 2008, but these are the events I know personally and are open to our audience (community projects and/or flight simulation related).
