Doing some further work on the navaid loading/search code, I've come across comments in adf.cxx search() and dme.cxx search() which raise a question.
The comments (which look to have been copy-and-pasted, since there's other comments which are identical in those functions) imply that both the ADF and the DME code should be searching the ILS list as well as the combined VOR/NDB list. Obviously that's not been done in the past, but would be a simple enough feature to add with the code changes I'm making. The other option is that the comments are bogus, and were copied-and- pasted from some original place and not updated. From a physical perspective, it makes sense (to me, as a software engineer, not an aeronautical one...) that both the ADF receiver and the DME receiver should indeed be able to work with an ILS - the former because, well, it's just another VHF signal, and the latter because ILS includes DME information. For the moment I'll stick with the current behaviour (not including ILS in the search) but if it should be included, please let me know.
