I disagree, alut has one important feature: it supports all supported 
WAV files on all supported platforms. So if the audio works on the 
development platform it'll work everywhere. No surprises that some plane 
doesn't work on Macs. And that's the reason I would go for FreeALUT, it 
supports more compression types: raw, ulaw, alaw and adpcm.

No, In fact I've removed some alut functionality in the overhauling process.
