Now that I know the answer, I'd agree, but it wasn't available by
searching for it as far as I could tell.  Thanks for the help.

For some reason, it's not there any longer but it is on rpmfind at

Yes, there's a bug report at
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=18867

Also the mesa3d-users mail list has a discussion of it starting with
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=606910
that includes a somewhat shorter test program than was in the bug
report.  Note the test program
is missing the following includes:

#include <stdlib.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <X11/Xlib.h>
#include <GL/glx.h>
