..many ways, an easy way is have 2 different /usr/local/ and mount 
the one you want as you start up the FG you want.  With Debian or 
Red Hat or derivatives of these, you can build rpm's and deb's from 
cvs source and play wth different paths, such as cvs down /opt/cvs/FG 
or somesuch and have the packaging system do the hard work.
