Arnt: The
Toshiba: Booting with the CD – the boot process and Knoppix’s multi coloured
text shows that the computer’s system brightness control is functioning! As
soon as the computer has booted and the screen and browsers or desktop are
there, it is very dull. Rebooting Knoppix and pressing F3 for the choices, I
typed in ‘knoppix vga=normal’ but the screen is still very dull. The
PC: Booting with the CD – I get the Welcome to the Knoppix Live…. and the
booting sequence and the little white box with ‘Input signal out of range’. A
little later I get the female voice “Initiating start up sequence” and then
nothing more happens. From this point you cannot take out the CD nor switch off
the PC. It has to be disconnected from the mains electricity. I
have read what is on F3, but it does not recognise the information from the Cheat
codes - screen=1280x1024
Use specified Screen resolution for X knoppix xvrefresh=60 (or
vsync=60) Use 60 Hz vertical
refresh rate for X knoppix xhrefresh=80 (or hsync=80) Use 80 kHz horizontal refresh rate for X knoppix. It
is a new HP PC and flat screen and the drivers were verified as up-to-date. For
this 17” monitor, it must be set at [EMAIL PROTECTED].
Which, I believe, knoppix is already set for. The
other two laptops are currently in use, but lets get these two organised first
of all. Thank
