can someone please help me with full screen mode. On my system if I just run fgfs and it comes up in an X window and runs ok. But, it is very hard to read compasses, etc. But, If I run it with --enable-fullscreen it is totally unusabletaking forever to update screen and then it skips large chunks of movement in the update.

As others have suggested, try starting out in full screen mode rather than starting with a smaller window and expanding it to full screen. To draw an opengl window your system needs to allocate some big buffers on your video card. If you resize the window, the system has to toss those buffers and reallocate larger ones. But if you are near the edge of your video card capacity already, there might not be a big enough chunk available for the newer larger window (since most of your cards memory is already allocated.) But if you start out full screen you often can find big enough chunks.

Im pretty sure --enable-fullscreen is for 3dfx cards. Try --enable-game-mode

Actually --enable-fullscreen is for use with an SDL based FlightGear, --enable-game-mode is for a Glut based FlightGear.

Curt.

OOPS :)
Now I have to check it out ...
