Hi,
I am very happy that I can run FlightGear 0.9.10 the first time under
SuSe Linux 10.1. This is the first step before trying to compile the CVS.

This is a further feedback to all reading users interested in installing
FG binaries (see link above) under SuSe Linux 10.1:
(I tested this with SuSe Linux 10.1 64bit version for AMD64 processor
but this should be the same for the 32bit version)

1. Installing the 3 *.rpm files withYAST was successfull and without any
problem after having installed OpenAL and plib from the SuSe
installation disks (with YAST) first. (First the "data" rpm, then the
"no_source" rpm, then the third rmp)
2. Under KDE a menu entry is created automatically under "games" :-/
3. One has to install the NVidia drivers with YAST (as recommended by
NVidia). This is a litte "tricky" for a Linux newbee as the
x11-video-nvidia file is unproblematic but the nvidia-gfx-kmp-xxx is for
the new "default" kernel (something like 2.6.16.21-x) and the kernel
from the installation disk is 2.6.16.13-4 - so you have to *update* the
kernel. The default update system is faulty, so google for "SDB:
ZEN-Update System problem in 10.1" from OpenSuSe. Once you know the
"trick" how to manage the update all further is pretty simple - make at
least the YAST, kernel and security updates. After that, the NVidia
drivers can be installed without dependency complaint.
4. Run FlightGear, enjoy!

Hope this is a little help for other SuSe Linux newbees like me!

Regards
Georg "HeliFlyer" EDDW
