Hello all..

I am new to flow-tools. I have flow tools running and collect some data but in the default format.

We are  try to implement flow-tools ans our netflow v5 collector but I did not find the interface very friendly. Do you use any additional software to graph and or represent data from flow-tools collector? Also I would like to know what is available in order to be have more info for the top talkers i.e the ports/protocols they are using?

Subject: [Flow-tools] Flow-Tools File Format

All,

I am a network engineer recently tasked with calculating strategic growth metrics utilizing data collected from netflow exports. We are currently using flow-tools as our default netflow v5 collector. I need to programmatically parse the files flow-tools generates and run my calculations on the flow records stored within them (the stock toolset does most of what I need but not quite everything). I can do this with the exports available through flow-export (ASCII, cflowd, etc) but most of these formats produce files much larger than I would like (I will have to send the netflow data across many, many WAN links for central processing). I have searched high and low for some kind of documentation describing the format of the files flow-tools creates. Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brandt Wright
