David, Not sure if this is at all relevant or not, but I saw something similar a while ago, which turned out to be caused by fltk configure failing to detect that the PNG lib supports alpha transparency and this in turn, somehow caused the corner boxes to be rendered slightly wrong... Which I think is what you are seeing... (My fltk builds are all patched now, so I don't have the "bug" anymore...) Anyway, the relevant STR is #1949 - can you give the suggested tweak a spin and see if that cleans things up for you? Note that the #1949 applies to all platforms AFAIK, so the bug may be widespread!
