I'd favour this one. Consistency on all platforms seems like a sensible goal. Especially since we went this route already for X11 with Xft. However, I'm not sure what conversion function we used there, and I don't know either how Mac OS works in this regard. > Note that I still can't persuade XP to handle surrogate pairs nicely anyway...
