I'm finally getting around to responding to this:

There was actually an interesting connection in that Toshi Ichiyanagi, who
was in Cage's New School class along with Al Hansen, Dick Higgins, Allan
Kaprow, George Brecht, etc., got involved with members of Group Ongaku when
he moved to Tokyo and formed the New Direction group. Group Ongaku members
included Tokyo Fluxus people like Takehisa Kosugi, Chieko Shiomi, Takemitsu
Toru, and Yasunao Tone. Group Ongaku members also were a part of the Hi
Red Center group, of which the Gutai Group's Akasegawa Genpei was a member.
I've read that both Nam June Paik and Yoko Ono participated in Hi Red
Center street events while in Japan circa 1963.
