Hi,

There was a great whitepaper on the relationship between number of  files and users that I found online one time, but now I can't seem to locate it, so any insight will be a big help.

We're currently at 23 files with an increasing number of users. A 6th user can't get on the database at all (exceeded capacity message), but I'm finding when a *5th* user tries to get on, he/she sometimes has a lot of trouble connecting. It will take forever to find certain hosted files, or doesn't find them at all (sometimes with a dialog box saying so, sometimes just a squiggly line icon and a locked up machine). Also on occasion with five users the files they've already opened will drop out for someone. Does this sound like a "reaching the limit" issue? Will performance suffer when nearing the user limit for the given number of files? I'm trying to confirm whether FMP Server would fix the problem before dropping major $ to buy it.

We're using fmp 5.5, served from a W2K machine with most clients on mac 9, some on XP.

Thanks!
C
