You may want to check the system's sleep phase. If it is set to go to
sleep after so many minutes of nonuse, then this may be telling
FileMaker to shut the program down. You have two settings for sleep
mode: one for the hard drive and the other for the monitor. Be sure the
sleep mode is the same for all users' computers.

Subject: filemaker 'crashing'

Hi,
I have a client running 8.5 (Windows XP2) which has been stable,
however, recently its been 'crashing' and coming up with the 'Filemaker
has been closed improperly" dialog as it rebuilds. The only time I've
found this to be a problem in the past has been when a computer has lost

power while Filemaker is still running. And when there was a faulty
power supply in a computer which would switch off for a microsecond then

back on.
In this case, other software open at the time (MS word) hasn't been
affected, only Filemaker. It appears to happen while Filemaker is idle,
not being used at the time thankfully as its been able to rebuild. I'm
aware of other potential internal problems that may surface so a clone
is used to transfer data each time. The solution is running peer to peer

over 2 computers, no server.
Any clues at all please.
