In layout mode, make sure you have the line size set to 1 point or
more and are using a pen color that will show up on your layout and
that the screen choice is set to the black box over the clear box
(second from the left selection) in the middle drop down box between
the pen color and line width. All these are choices in the bottom
left pop-up menu in layout mode. Be sure you have the field selected
when you make the changes. I think that should work to fix the
problem for you.
