Hi Steve,

Again, my sincere thanks for your prompt reply.

My bad. You are quite right. The FTS manual did not specify that you had to create the fields again on the layout from the status bar which caused me some confusion. In the past, when I have created fields in the define database field creation dialog box, they have appeared in the database layout page where I could position them wherever I wanted so I expected the same when I created these two fields.

What a wonderful list this is. Again, my thanks to all, especially you, Steve, and to Forbes Robertson, Richard Russell and Geoff Graham for their very helpful input. Your patience is very much appreciated.

With kind regards to all on this list.

Roger

Have you read the users' guide for FMP?

When you create a field, it is added to the current table. Fields do not necessarily appear on any layout when you create them. (Um... how would the software know which layout you want them on?)

You have to add them manually.

Steve

I have created a new database file to check if this problem exists in another independent database but the new database also fails to show these fields in any of the layouts.

Am I missing something or is something amiss in FM9. I have bitten the bullet and ordered FM9 which should arrive in the middle of next week.
