So I'm doing validity checks on names, and in general I want the data enterer to pause and think about whether the name really SHOULD have a space in it. For example, it's OK for "Mary Beth" but not for "John Q." (where the "Q." should go into a different field). Why would I do this? So I can address letters to "Dear Mary Beth" and "Dear John" without sounding like a dork. So I want to DISCOURAGE spaces while still allowing them where relevant.

At the same time, I want to check to be sure that there are absolutely no return characters. This should not be optional; I want to PROHIBIT them 100% of the time.

Unfortunately, FMP seems to provide me with only 1 validity-checking opportunity, and it forces me to select either "challenge" or "prevent".

Am I reading this aright? If so, is there a work-around that lets me have both my cake AND my ice cream?

2 wrongs don't make a right, but 3 lefts do.
