I actually make use of this feature in tracking the instruments that kids play in a youth orchestra. Data entry occurs in a largish field that has a checkbox for every conceivable instrument. Many kids are capable of playing more than one, but whichever one is checked FIRST is the one that the child actually plays in the orchestra. That's the instrument that subsequently shows up in the displayable (IE, NOT formatted as checkboxes) versions of the "Instruments" field.
