Oracle ODBC date vs timestamp fields

Setting up external data source files from Oracle in the FM 
relationship graph.  FM automatically creates FM date fields 
corresponding to the Oracle date fields.  However, Oracle date fields 
are actually timestamp fields, and FileMaker date fields, delete the 
time.  I cannot change the field type on FM external data source 
tables.  I tried a calculated FM timestamp field based on the date 
field, it shows the time is indeed missing.  I guess I need to split 
Oracle date fields into separate date and time fields, then 
re-assemble them in FM.
