Actually, when you ENTER find mode, it does NOT clear the previously found set - the previously found set is only cleared IF you do another Find, Constrain, or Extend. That being the case, if your script performs a "Constrain Found Set" step after the initial Find, the constrained search will in effect give you the search INSIDE your original found set as you described.

Try it and see.
