Wondering whether FMP could truly live up to my continued boasts to
my clients that it's "100% cross-platform compatible", I went to the
FMI FAQs page and typed in "Linux". This is about the only result
that turned up that seemed relevant:
"... with reference to the aside about 'does Filemaker run on
Linux', the answer is 'Yes'. ('If you use WINE.')
"I'd guess that most Linux users are familiar with WINE, a program
that emulates a Windoze application, for example, but is at pains to
remind you its acronym stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator. Dunno
about all that: all I know is it runs well."
I take this to mean that FMP does NOT run natively under Linux. Can
anyone confirm or refute that?
If it doesn't, does anyone know of plans to make it do so?
There was a version of Server previously ( cannot remember the
version - but I think prior to FMP7) that did run under Red Hat
Linux. I do not recall any standard versions of FileMaker Pro
running natively under linux.
