Wow! I haven't been able to "dip into the river" that is this list for a while, but what a great response!
First, it answers a question: Is it safe to write recursive functions as Custom functions (I was going to try it anyway soon, but still was nervous that all hell would break loose). Second, it is an amazingly nice solution. I maintain my "WishList" for the two enhancements regardless on two counts: 1. Not everyone has Advanced, and these features I think would be useful. 2. Even if we admit that they are "syntactical candy" for something that could be done in another manner, isn't that true of most functions?... I mean we could use Count() and Sum() and never have to use Avg() again. Thanks again to all that responded and especially "Eilert - Beatrice - Stephen" for the actual recursive function.
