Thank you all for your information! I was so sure that I had to transfer it to FM7 and then up. Since not, now I just need to put FMAdvanced for 2-3 users in my budget and move forward. (btw, does that ever go on sale? [doubtful])

You may not need to spring for that many copies of FMPA. Really, you only need FMPA on the computer of whoever's doing the database- development work. Regular end users can get by just fine with ordinary FMP. FMPA has features like the ability to add tooltips, generate database-design reports, and debug scripts that ordinary users would never need, so there's no reason to pay extra for such unused features. Any database generated by FMPA can be used just fine with FMP. I work mainly with non-profit organizations — chronically strapped for cash — and a typical installation has a mix of FMP versions from 7 to 10 (depending on what they could afford at any given time) and only a single computer with FMPA on it. These all interoperate just fine, which is quite a tribute to the software designers at FMI.
