Dear Steve, Martin and Vinay, Thanks for your suggestions. Here's what I am trying right now..I am running with linear_eos = .true. like Steve suggested for 1 month. At the end of this I will replace the salt field with salt.nc in the restart file and try to continue.
If that doesnt work, I will try to intialise u,w and w fields from the earlier MOM_2 run and try to start the model again. The earlier MOM_2 run had rigid_lid and I dont know how to initialise eta_t and eta_u fields (would I die if I let them be 0?). Martin and Steve, could you help me there? Vinay, the mom4 run has Rahmstorf's convection which I believe should take care of any vertical instability. Thanks for all your help.
