I have two basic recommendations: 1. First, let me recommend investigating current solutions to these problems such as Webmin (for administration); no point reinventing the wheel. 2. I would recommend that if possible, you use a Samba server for the filesharing, and let it worry about the security permissions. Is there some reason this wouldn't work?
