Yes, with different versions installed under different paths/directories there will be a java executable under each installation. The JAVA_HOME path will probably be updated to the lastest install, but with the older versions hanging around java code can be ran from these installs of JDK/JRE.
This doesn't occur it the update overwrites the existing install, but generally sun java installs a separate dir per each version, or at least has been my experience. We all probably have seen the security fixes for Sun Java but I have one question that has never been fully addressed. If I apply the latest Sun Java 2 Runtime and I have older versions installed as well can someone execute a vulnerability that exists in the older runtime? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --- DISCLAIMER: This e-mail is only intended for the person(s) to whom it is addressed and may contain confidential information.
