Linda and I listen to the CBC 2, www.cbc.ca/radio2 as they play a lot of singer
songwriter music and Randy Bachman of The Guess Who and Bachman Turner
Overdrive has a neat weekly 2 part show.

The last two weeks was about country rock, which was really interesting.

He mentions a song we all know by the Beatles, I Just Seen A Face, which I had
no idea was the only Beatle song without a bass. Randy said many magazines
said if you added a banjo it would really be a bluegrass song which to me is
part of the folk part of music.

I never thought about that before.

A group called the Dillards did that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbKGsEK_T9g The Beatles version

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2PAiJyyBbc The Dillard's, as I love this
version too.

Actually was is neat too, there is a CD of Moody Blue songs done to Blue Grass
which is played a lot on Folk Alley, as I am a big Moody fan.

Just amazing what you can do to a song and have two great songs.

Also on his show, it was mention that Ry Cooder tried out for the Rolling
Stones after Brian Jones died and he did not get along with Keith Richards but
he gave them the guitar riff for Honky Tonk Women. WOW! My Name is Buddy by
Cooder

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2os7CYyL-3Y The CD is about Buddy the Cat,
Lefty the Mouse and Tom the Reverent Toad as he used them to deal with social
issues of the 30s. A modern day Woody folk opera, like Tommy? Unions, Civil
rights, worker rights, etc.
