Thoughtful Foods Co-op Meetings Minutes (Name not valid in USA; cf "Freedom Foods Freedom Minutes")

Vegies/Publicity Report

Thinking of having a stall-ish thing somewhere upper campus where we can keep vegies and sell snack-ish things on Thursdays. Helen mentioned that costed delivery has been tried in the past and no one wanted to pay the $2.50 for the delivery. Query: are we even allowed to sell things, from a union competition point of view? To be looked into by Summer. Only things to be sold would be on the go packs for ease of carrying them to upper campus and ease of pricing.

Paying people who pack tahini/honey

Does anyone have a problem with paying, like, 50c a jar to the packers. Renata said it wasn't necessary; she has never found it a problem. Renata said that since the superweeds are getting paid anyway they can be fairly asked to do messier things like this. Also when two people are in the shop one could be doing something constructive like this. Steve said he thinks all workers can do this kind of stuff when they're not particularly busy. (Helen explains to the newer people what a superweed is). Helen says she doesn't want to militantly enforce some of these duties. Enthusiastically acceded to put up a detailed job description for superweeds so they know the expectations (which will now include such things!).
Fridge replace = non-commercial instead

Why are we seemingly committed to having this big heavy duty ugly fridge when we don't really need one. Possibility of when this fridge goes the way of the dodo we get one of the white kinds with a freezer that we can stick magnet-y things on and all. Rather than replacing doors.
Revote on outside shop meetings

"Quick" filling in of Steve on what the issue actually is. See, for the most part, last week's minutes on this. Reminiscing of a knitting group that used to sit out here. Ellen reads out a list of arguments both for and against. Motion made that we allow the enviro collective to sit outside and do their stuff for now; see if any problems arise. Motion passed. 6 for, 2 against, 4 abstaining.
Club memberships and does this facilitate having meetings outside shop

Looking to normalize our dealings with large scale clubs as in the past it has been fairly haphazard. We can have a memberships for clubs; where the club gets a card, which only a few people could use within that club (president, treasurer, whatever). Issues to decide are cost of the membership, benefits of membership, how do we handle the cards and stuff. Everyone accepts the idea, details to be sorted out via THE INTARNET!!1q1
Screen Printing Workshops

There is a screen printing workshop Monday Week 5 12-4 in quad1001. More details will be forthcoming but will be making bags more than tshirts. Another one later in semester; hopefully any interested parties will come out of that one being able to organise their own screen printing sessions.
Product Info Board

There is a product information board going up just above the blackboard of rosters. An electronic note will be sent around explaining how to use it. Its basic purpose is to tell everyone what stock is in stock and at what cost.
Originals Folder and Electronic Copies

We have a folder of all the assorted bits of paper and stuff that we need. Anyone who makes such things can they either put a copy of what they make or a cd with what they make into the originals folder.
Food Co-op noticeboard, community noticeboard and the windows

Last year we had people putting lots of random things up often with sticky substances which are difficult to get back off. Currently in the works is two different boards; one only for food co-op things which will stay empty except for our things. The larger part will be a community noticeboard for everthing else. Policies on what goes up; they have to fit into a general co-op issues area as well as be dated so we know when to take them down. Also always keep one half of the window clear of stuff so the shop looks bigger and stuff (all this was decided last session). Monika planning to create some possibly colourful display boards that explain in a user-friendly way what it is the co-op actually does and why.
Food Co-op's Birthday; turns 10 in September + a proposal

Have a big celebration of sorts for our birthday. Voted to make the creation of the celebration a project. Anyone interested in helping either organise the whole shebang, or take care of some individual aspects of the project, should all get together and talk about it. A large amount of publicity would be good so if "they" ever try to shut us down then everyone will know about it and hopefully make a huge uproar.
Cards for management committee, superweeds and projects. Also pigeonholes.

Anyone who is a superweed, has a project, or is on the m.c has a laminated card. Tick the back boxes 1 time for every hour of work you do. The ticks can stack up over a couple of weeks, eg if you work one gajillion hours in week 3 and then one hour in week 4, you can put two ticks in week 4 and er one gajillion - 1 in week 3.

Helen notes that she goes through everything really fast so that people who have to go early don't feel bad about going early. Asks if this is okay with everyone. (For future reference, anyone who needs to go, don't feel bad about doing it, or about asking if your agenda items can be bumped up the list so we can get them done before you have to go.)
Vegie Ordering Forms

To start charging 20c for those who get vegie ordering envelopes from the co-op. They can print or even write up their own, so long as they have the important bits on it!

Random announcements
From Renata: For OHS; we should spend some money to get some stuff into the first aid kit beyond Disney band aids, or whatever. Buy some burn cream and some things like that. Renata to email list of what COFA has to Georgie/Helen who will spend up to $100 on it. Is anyone out there a first-aid certified St Johns person? If so do you still have the discount card we can use to get a cheaper St Johns first aid kit!
From Summer: Has mould allergies, and one of the corners is bad. The hot water tank is getting removed for the low low cost of $120. Hopefully this will cause cessation of all mould allergy hostilities.
There's a broken light in one of the corners.
