I'm with Anne in that if I don't buy tinned tomatoes from the co-op I'll buy
them from the supermarket anyway.

If we can't have safflower oil, I'd be happy to just leave it at olive oil.
Although something 'light' would be nice.

Ellen

Subject: [FOOD_CO-OP] oils? cans?

hello all once again,

if you've been into the co-op, you've probably noticed the lack of oils.
Previously olive oil and safflower oil were in stock, but the safflower
oil took a *long* time to move (around a year?).
Anyway, I was wondering what members thought about getting a different
oil to complement the olive oil. so far I've had various suggestions,
peanut, sesame, etc. Send any suggestions you have along, and I'll get
on to it. hey, we might end up with safflower oil again, but at least I
know.

Another issue is cans of organic tomatoes (which are quite popular at
UTS co-op). Should we stock these?

arguments for:
they're organic
something that the student population would use readily (e.g. in pasta
sauce)

arguments against:
they're in tin cans, which goes against the lack of new packaging
currently in use at the co-op.

discuss and let me know what you think.

on that topic, I've found a half decent place to get soaps from (sorry,
Brenda found them, I'm only just getting off my lazy behind to sort it
out). . They're all vegetable based and the like. They are wrapped in
paper though. So along the same lines, let me know what you think.

Rob.
